Tarajalejo |
 |
Tarajalejo was once just a little fishing village, located in southeastern Fuerteventura.
Today, this quiet village is becoming a booming town with various establishments being developed. For instance, the Tofio Hotel was built opposite the sea and the old village. Its main road, which originally ran along the coast, now runs to the north of the fishing village.
There are several small sea view apartment blocks, bars and restaurants in the old town, with a preserved authentic Fuerteventura feel.
Tarajalejo has a black-sanded beach with the same name. It is over one kilometer long with a width of 45 meters. The harbor and its sheltered waters lie beneath the peninsula to the east of Taralajelo. Large crabs are a familiar sight at the quay.
Tourists flock to the town of Tarajalejo for wind surfing and catamaran (boat handling) lessons.
