Since Casillas Del Ángel is part of the municipality of Puerto Del Rosario , the people from this village follow and celebrate most of the traditions in the capital city - where the major happenings take place.
Burying the Sardine
This Spanish tradition is usually held on March 5 as a conclusion to the annual carnival. After parading the sardine throughout the streets of Puerto Del Rosario, it is burned down. It is then ended with a spectacular display of fireworks.
Los Archipencos
A traditional part of the carnival in Puerto del Rosario is the Archipencos. Similar to the Fuerteventura carnivals, the only difference with this one is that it floats in water. Various homemade vessels contend on sailing from the port to the town s small beach.
New Year s Eve Fiesta
The biggest merriment in Fuerteventura during New Year s Eve is held in its capital city and the celebration starts before midnight in the church square. It is a Spanish tradition to swallow a grape every time the church bell strikes. It is believed that it will bring good luck.
When the clock strikes twelve, the fireworks will explode indicating the launch of the celebration. Live music, dancing, and lots of various food and drinks abound. This merriment usually goes on all night.
