The towns in Fuerteventura are known for having a peaceful environment. However, when carnivals and fiestas take place, it is anything but.
Usually, the fiestas in Gran Tarajal are celebrated in honor of their patron saints. It normally consists of religious processions, ceremonies, fairs, live music and a cap of loud fireworks.
Día de Los Reyes - Day of the Kings
Date: January 6
Celebrated in Gran Tarajal as well as the rest of Spain, the Day of the Kings is marked by a parade of floats. The designated three wise men give out Christmas gifts to the children.

The Battle of Tamasite Reenactment
Date: October
This event is to commemorate the battle of Tamasite and to honor the brave locals who fought in this dispute.
In 1740, a group of Englishmen, with cannons and guns, decided to invade the Island of Fuerteventura . However, their plan was unsuccessful as they were defeated in the Battle of Tamasite, which took place near the Gran Tarajal bay.
Carnival

Celebrated all over the Fuerteventura towns, countless tourists are drawn to the spectacular carnaval celebrations. The highlight of the carnival in Gran Tarajal is the election of the Carnaval Queen . It is ended with open-air parties in the town square with live bands, dancing and various stalls run by restaurants and bars.

Festivals
Thousands of people are drawn to religious festivals that are celebrated in honor of the two patron saints of Fuerteventura - Fiesta de San Buenaventura and Romería de la Virgen de la Peña.
The inhabitants of Gran Tarajal are keen to preserve their religious traditions and at the same time, take pleasure in the social aspects of these festivals.
